Lean Yellow Belt Classroom Training Course Outline (3 days)
The overall objective is that participants in the Lean Yellow Belt program will be equipped to support or even lead smaller continuous improvement initiatives by being able to apply some of the basic quality tools in their area of operation and more effectively participate in improvement activities.

- Value-added and non value-added activities
- How Lean concentrates on waste identification and reduction
- Understanding the Voice of the Customer (VOC) and Voice of the Process (VOP)
- Rationale and benefits of implementing a Lean approach
- The eight sources of waste (Muda) plus Mura (Unevenness) and Muri (Overburden)
- Effective problem statements using the 5W2H approach
- Construct SIPOC, Process Flow and Spaghetti Maps
- Construct current and future state Value Stream maps and deeper-dive process maps
- The use of A3 problem-solving methodology
- Value Added Assessment and ‘the Hidden Factory’
- Pareto Charts/Analysis
- Data collection strategies
- Effective Operational Definitions
- Lean Metrics and Capability Analysis
- Create Cause & Effect diagrams and drill down to root cause using ‘5 Whys’ approach
- Understand how to plan and participate in Kaizen improvement events
- Batch Reduction, Kanban, Leveling and Improving Flow
- Workplace organization including 5S, visual workplace & standard work
- Create effective ongoing controls for sustaining improvements

Lean Yellow Belt Certification Upgrade
This course is upgradable to a Lean Green Belt or a full Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification with the addition of two more days for Lean Green Belt or five more days for Lean Six Sigma Green Belt instructor led training. This option is the quickest and the least expensive method to achieve a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification if you find that you truly enjoy the Lean Six Sigma methods and want to learn more.
To maximize the effectiveness of our training sessions, Lean Six Sigma Canada limits the number of attendees per class (min 15 – max 20). Substitution can be done — please advise three weeks in advance. Registrants who have been confirmed for specific training sessions may reschedule or cancel reservations without penalty up to 15 business days before the scheduled class start date by either calling Lean Six Sigma Canada or by email.
