Q: Which Lean Six Sigma certification is most recognized?

A: The most valuable certification comes from a reputable, independent organization, a “third-party” certification company.

Q: How long does it take to get the Lean Six Sigma certification?

A: Depending on the belt level, the individual input and time dedicated to studying, successful completion of the Lean Six Sigma certification requirements typically takes one to six months.

Q: How long do I have to complete the online program?

A: For the online training, Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt students have eighteen months to complete the certification requirements. For all the other belts, the allotted time is fourteen months.

Q: Is the Lean Six Sigma certification worth it?

A: Many employers and recruiters nowadays are looking for certified candidates. A Lean or Lean Six Sigma certification is a great addition to your resume, giving you a competitive edge. This type of certification shows that you have improved your education, problem solving and technical skills, as well as your leadership skills.

Q: What time does the class start/end?

A: Typically, our public/open-enrollment classes start at 8:30 AM and end at 4:30 PM. For the onsite classes, we work closely with our clients to accommodate their preferred schedule.

Q: Can you deliver the training onsite during weekends?

A: Yes, based on customer needs, we can provide onsite training and coaching during weekends. A 10% weekend surcharge will apply.

Q: Can I obtain my Lean Six Sigma certification online?

A: Similar to our classroom training, we do offer Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Black Belt, Green Belt and Yellow belt online training and certification.

Q: What is the level of support offered for the online training?

A: Upon enrollment, each online student is paired with one of our Master Black Belt instructors who will help along the way and provide support and guidance.

Q: Do I need to purchase the certification exam or is it included?

A: Both the final certification examination and the project review are included in the online training tuition fee. For the onsite and public training, the exam and project review are billed separately at $350 per student.

Q: Are there any discounts applicable?

A: We provide discounts to candidates who are unemployed, to veterans, as well as to full time college or university students. Also, discounts are applicable when three or more people from the same organization enroll in any of the programs.

Q: Will my certification expire? Do I need to re-certify?

A: Lean Six Sigma Canada’s certifications have no expiration date. Similar to a Master’s Degree or a Professional Engineer designation for example, there is no need for re-certification.

Q: Is there a central accreditation body for Lean Six Sigma?

A: The value of this certification is largely based on the reputation of the Master Black Belt that certifies an individual and trustworthiness of the school or educational institution granting the certification. Even though a few attempts have been made, there is no central, international accreditation body for Lean Six Sigma. However, Lean Six Sigma Canada is a member of American Society for Lean Six Sigma and The Council for Six Sigma Certification, which are accreditation bodies for Lean Six Sigma (LSS) providers. These are organizations that collaborate to ensure the integrity and to maintain a higher standard of Lean Six Sigma training and consulting.

Q: How can a recruiter or employer verify my certification?

A: We are very often contacted by employers or credential verification companies, and typically provide feedback within one business day. Each certificate includes a unique serial number, the date that the certificate was awarded and the signature and seal of the Master Black Belt instructor.

Q: What are the prerequisites for enrolling into various Lean Six Sigma programs?

A: To be eligible to enroll in the Master Black Belt program, candidates must be certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belts by a reputable educational institution or training provider. Also, MBB candidates need to have two or more years experience as a Black Belt and at least a couple of of successful BB projects under their belt. For all the other belt levels, the prospective student may be eligible to start the training at any level. An assessment is conducted by one of our Master Black Belt instructors of each candidate’s work experience, education and continuous improvement skills.

Q: Do the programs teach you how to use any statistical software?

A: All of our programs include detailed, hands-on training in either Minitab, SigmaXL or ProcessMA.

Q: Do I need to submit a new project or can I submit a project that I completed recently as my certification project?

A: Yes, you can send a recent project, as long as you comply with our project guidelines and show that you have used the DMAIC framework and the tools and techniques specific to your belt level.
